  • Celebrations for George Spencer Academy SCITT

    We are extremely pleased to share that George Spencer Academy SCITT have been successful in their reaccreditation bid for the delivery of the Initial Teacher Training (ITT) programme, leading to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) from September 2024 onwards.

    This was an extremely challenging process within a short timeframe – we would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of our partners who were part of this process, especially our SCITT partner schools, Lead Mentors and delivery partners.

  • SAT awarded World Class Status

    Spencer Academies Trust is delighted to announce that we have been accredited as a ‘World Class MAT’ by the World Class Charitable Organisation.

    This new accreditation has been rolled out in accordance with the quality of our students. MAT’s leading the rollout have one or more schools already accredited as a ‘World Class School’.

  • Spencer Academies Trust announce new appointments

    We are delighted to announce three new appointments to the Trust Central team.

    Firstly, we would like to welcome Laurie Snaith who joins us as Trust Head of Governance. Laurie has previously worked as a Business Officer and Governance Professional in both a local academy setting and as part of a larger MAT. Prior to this, Laurie held positions as an Executive Assistant and Company Secretary in the private sector following completion of a graduate scheme in Business Management.

    Spencer Academies Trust are excited to share the launch of our End Point Assessment Organisation (EPAO). As an Apprenticeship Training Provider, we bring our passion and expertise to this new venture.

    Tammy Elward, Director for Teaching School Hub and Derby Research School shared ‘We are excited to extend our work as George Spencer SCITT and Spencer Apprenticeships into the world of End Point Assessment for Teacher Apprenticeships. We are passionate about supporting high quality training opportunities as entry pathways into the teaching profession, and the Teacher Assessment route allows valuable salaried routes into teaching. As an End Point Assessor, we are pleased to be able to work with Teacher Apprentices across our region and support the ITT providers as an End Point Assessment Organisation.’

  • Millside Spencer Academy appoint Sophia Thorne as first Principal

    Spencer Academies Trust are delighted to announce the appointment of Sophia Thorne, as the first Principal of the Trust’s newest Primary School Millside Spencer Academy. Based in the heart of East Leake, the Academy will cater for the newly developed housing and growing community within the village.

    On becoming the first Principal at Millside Spencer Academy Sophia said, ‘As an East Leake resident it means a lot to me to become the new Principal and especially the first. I really want to establish Millside as a really happy and effective school, where children can come and be educated locally, walk to school and come and be part of their community.

  • Inkersall Spencer Academy awarded Good status at Ofsted inspection

    Pupils and teachers at Inkersall Spencer Academy are delighted after being rated Good at its first Ofsted inspection post COVID-19.

    The Academy, located in Staveley, Chesterfield is part of the Spencer Academies Trust family of schools, and underwent a full Ofsted Section 5 inspection which is designed to revaluate the schools rating, following a ‘Requires Improvement’ status from their previous inspection from April 2018.

  • Portland Spencer Academy awarded glowing Ofsted inspection

    Pupils and teachers at Portland Spencer Academy are celebrating after receiving a glowing review at its first Ofsted inspection post COVID -19.

    The Academy, located in Bilborough is part of the Spencer Academies Trust family, received a section 8 inspection which is designed to ensure the Academy remains good, following a full section 5 inspection in 2017.

  • Successful Happy, Healthy and High-Performing Primary CPD Event

    Our 17 primary academies joined together yesterday during our Primary CPD event to discuss and share expertise within the trust. The theme centred around Happy, Healthy and High-Performing with over 80 sessions delivered by over 100 staff from across our academies.

    For the second time the whole event was hosted online by Principals and members of the Trust Central team. This format offered staff in schools’ maximum choice and ease of access.

  • Chellaston Fields Spencer Academy Reach Defibrillator Target

    Last week Chellaston Fields Spencer Academy hit their £1,200 target, to purchase a defibrillator for the local community. Sean Hedley, whose son Noah (4) attends the academy, lead the campaign with his ‘100 mile run in 20 days’.  Students, families and staff also supported his efforts through bake sales, raffles and sponsored runs.

    Sean embarked on this challenge after losing his father unexpectedly to acute cardiac failure at just 61 years old, earlier this year. After seeing various stories across the sporting world about the successful use of defibrillators, Sean researched where the nearest one within the newly developed area of Chellaston was, he said;

  • Castleward Spencer Academy Plant a Tree for the Jubilee

    Last week the HM Lord Lieutenant of Derbyshire, Mayor of Derby and students from Castleward Spencer Academy planted one of 70 School Celebration Trees during a tree planting ceremony at Castleward Spencer Academy. School Celebration Trees are part of the Queen’s Green Canopy initiative which was launched earlier this year as part of a unique, UK-wide tree planting project aimed at creating a lasting legacy in honour of The Queen’s lifetime of service to the Nation. 2022 will be the year of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, a celebration and thanksgiving for her 70 years on the throne.

  • Rosecliffe Spencer Academy Official Opening

    Having opened last September under COVID restrictions, Rosecliffe Spencer Academy, celebrated their official opening this week with many dignitaries in attendance.

    Following performances from all children including a soiree of songs and a performance on the piano, the esteemed guests were given a tour of the academy by the pupils themselves. These ambassadors of Rosecliffe impressed all who encountered them, demonstrating maturity, humour and kindness, a theme which ran throughout the event.
