KATE GREEN | INTERIM CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

Kate Green began her career at Fairfield Spencer Academy in 2003 and exemplifies the nurturing, professionally enriching ethos that defines Spencer Academies Trust. From NQT to Interim CEO, Kate is a highly driven and passionate leader who believes every child should have the opportunity to succeed, regardless of their starting point. This commitment reflects Spencer’s mission: “To deliver the best possible outcomes for children and young people” - a principle that drives Kate every day. As a proven executive system leader, Kate has an exceptional track record in school improvement at subject, school, and trust level. In her role as Director of Primary Education, she fostered a culture of collaboration that has delivered sustained improvement and collective results which are above national averages. Under her leadership, Spencer primaries have thrived in an environment where school improvement is seen as an energising force, and her impact is evident in the quality of inclusive education delivered by highly effective teams. Kate’s contribution as part of the executive team has been instrumental in embedding equity and excellence as core pillars of the Trust’s work. Her strategic insight and deep understanding of Spencer’s strengths position her strongly to lead during this interim period. She is committed to bringing the #OneSpencer plan, which was launched in September, fully to life. Kate views this opportunity as a privilege and will steer Spencer Academies Trust into its next chapter with Aspiration, Partnership, and Responsibility at the heart of everything we do.

 

Fraser Mitchell | INTERIM EXECUTIVE Director of Education

Fraser is Interim Director of Education for The Spencer Academies Trust and has enjoyed more than ten years' experience as a system leader As a phase specific Trust Executive Leader for 8 years, Fraser was responsible for achieving success in eight secondary schools, shaping examination and Ofsted improvements in the academies that joined The Spencer Academies Trust. Every Spencer secondary academy that had been inspected since joining has become at least a ‘good school’ – including those originally in Ofsted categories. Trust secondary progress and attainment have consistently been above national averages. Fraser has also led work supporting schools and trusts beyond Spencer, as part of National Leader of Education and DfE work. As a serving Principal between 2013 and 2017, Fraser led the academy under his care to an ‘outstanding’ Ofsted judgement in May 2015. The report captured the values of school and system leadership at the heart of his work: “The Principal provides inspiring and visionary leadership. He is driven by a strong moral imperative to improve the life chances of students not only in this academy, but in the schools that are supported by the trust. His relentless focus on high standards is coupled with deep and genuine compassion for the most vulnerable students, who thrive as a result of the excellent care and support they receive. Fraser is a Fellow of the Charted College and has sat on the board of the DfE Derby Priority area local partnership, as well as supporting a MAT Board in the East of England.

 

Amy Taylor | Chief Finance & Operations Officer

 

Sarah McAneny-Vincent | Executive Director of Inclusion & Primary School Improvement

Sarah has an unwavering belief in the transformational effect of education, with a particular focus on the inclusion of children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities and those who are hard to reach and vulnerable. She has a steadfast belief that every child should have the opportunity to access high quality teaching, learning and provision which prepares them for the ever-changing landscape of employment and as such is a key advocate for equity, diversity and inclusion. Sarah has a remit to further strengthen and articulate the shared vision of inclusion across the Spencer Academies Trust through her strategic leadership of provision that meets the needs of our most vulnerable groups of learners within: safeguarding; SEND; behaviour; and attendance. Working cross-phase with all 26 schools in the Trust, she has responsibility for: safeguarding compliance at individual academy level; maintaining key policies and audits; and keeping up-to-date with current legislation. She also mentors and coaches new-to-role leaders and co-ordinates network meetings for training and sharing best practice across all the areas she leads. In addition to her Inclusion role she also lead the Primary Strategy Team, leading school improvement across the 19 Primary schools in the Trust. She also sits as an Executive Leader of the Trust and in the Secondary Strategy Team helping to drive the continuous improvement and direction of the Trust.

 

Aoife Galletly | Executive Director of Quality & Standards & Secondary School Improvement

Prior to joining the trust, Aoife was an HMI (Schools) in the East Midlands and she continues to lead inspections in the region. She was formerly deputy headteacher in a comprehensive secondary school. She has held a range of senior leadership responsibilities including pastoral, DSL, teaching and learning, special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), pupil premium and literacy. Her subject specialism is languages.

 

Tammy Elward | Executive Director of Spencer Alliance of Learning & Teaching

Tammy is originally a secondary trained practitioner who moved into primary working in both inner city Birmingham and Derby. Her passion is supporting high quality teaching and learning to meet the needs of all learners, including our most disadvantaged. This commitment to addressing education disadvantage became even more of a focus when she was fortunate to step into the role of Director of the Derby Research School. She believes that school leaders are empowered by engaging with evidence base, crafting their own bespoke school improvement journey to make the biggest impact.
