  • Spencer Academies Trust appoints new Director of Vulnerable Learners

    Spencer Academies Trust is pleased to announce the appointment of Rachael Saunders to its Central Inclusion Team as the Director of Vulnerable Learners from September 2023.

    Mrs Saunders is currently Assistant Vice Principal at Heanor Gate Spencer Academy.  She is an experienced Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator and Designated Safeguarding Lead and has taught across a range of secondary settings in the East Midlands and London.

    Matilda Daley and Geraldine Waterton have plans to begin their Initial Teacher Training with Spencer Academies Trust after spending three weeks interning at Chetwynd Spencer Academy.

    After participating in a three-week internship through the Spencer Alliance for Leadership and Teaching (SALT), Matilda Daley and Geraldine Waterton are positioned to begin their School-Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT).

  • Students at Heanor Gate Spencer Academy receive Framework Award for Fundraiser

    The non-profit recognised the fundraising contributions of 40 students who organised the “Big Sleep Out” event to raise funds for and awareness of the difficulties faced by homeless people.

  • Two teams from Derby Moor Spencer Academy compete as finalists in Big Bang UK Young Scientists and Engineers Competition

    A team of three Year 8 students were nominated for a special award, and the team of four Year 10 students were runners up for the Intermediate Science Award.

    Seven students in two teams represented Derby Moor Spencer Academy at this year’s Big Bang UK Young Scientists and Engineers Competition, with one team earning a nomination for the Royal Air Force Teamwork special award and the other winning runner up for the Intermediate Science Award.
