  • Successful SAT Leadership Strategy Day

    Leaders from across the Spencer Academies Trust joined together for the annual ‘Trust Leadership Strategy Day’ last Friday. Over 80 members including Academy Principals, Trust Senior Leaders, Trustees and Central Support professionals were in attendance.

    CEO Paul West began by introducing the ‘One Spencer’ strategy that will focus on ten goals over the next three years to help support our Trust and Academies to execute, our ambition to be both exceptional and outstanding. Whilst also living each day the Trust values of Aspiration, Partnership, and Responsibility.

  • Millside Spencer Academy open for new school term

    The latest Primary to join Spencer Academies Trust Millside Spencer Academy has opened its doors for the first cohort of students for the new school term.

    Located in East Leake, Millside Spencer Academy is part of the County Council’s development plan for education in the East Leake area of Rushcliffe. Students from across East Leake joined their teachers and support staff for the start of term, and have settled in well to the learning village.

  • Great GCSE gains across the Spencer Academies Trust

    There were great GCSEs and vocational equivalents gained in all Spencer Academies Trust Academies this morning. Students were celebrating as every academy surpassed the outcomes they achieved in the last formal exam season of 2019.

    Almost 1900 Year 11 Spencer students across the region collected their results today. Paul West, Chief Executive, said, “I’m delighted for all our Spencer students. I’m equally thrilled for our academy staff who have worked tirelessly with our young people to achieve these remarkable outcomes, despite the hurdles of the last few years.

  • Sixth Form Success across The Spencer Academies Trust

    There were celebrations in every Spencer Academies Trust Academy with a sixth form this morning. Each academy surpassed the outcomes they achieved in the last formal exam season of 2019, including at A*/A and B grades, in contrast to some of the national news headlines earlier this week.

    Just under 800 Spencer Trust sixth formers across the region collected their results today, with their average grade up to a ‘B’ from a ‘C’ in 2019, and top grades at A*/A and A*-B up by around 15% each respectively.

  • SAT Parliament take a trip to Matlock County Hall

    Elected representatives from 14 of our Primary Academies, and their staff, joined together at Matlock County Hall to celebrate the importance of democracy and the impact that they can all have on making a difference. Children from Years 1 to 6 were represented and selected from across our primary academies.

  • Derby Moor Spencer Academy Ofsted Inspection 2022

    Staff and students at Derby Moor Spencer Academy were pleased today to see the final strong report from their recent Ofsted inspection.

    The academy, located in Littleover, is part of the Spencer Academies Trust and underwent a section 8 inspection in June. This inspection was designed to ensure the academy remains a good school, following their last full section 5 inspection in December 2017.

  • George Spencer Academy re-awarded World Class Quality Mark (WCSQM) accreditation

    On 6th July 2022, George Spencer Academy in Nottinghamshire was awarded World Class Schools Quality Mark re-accreditation at an Awards Ceremony at St Marylebone School, having successfully passed a rigorous student-led assessment process to prove they have consistently maintained a World Class standard of education since their last accreditation assessment two years ago. The Quality Mark is awarded by the education charity World Class Schools Quality Mark, whose unique assessment framework assesses the students, not the school, for their demonstration of World Class skills and competencies. The premise is that if the school is truly World Class, then its students should be able to demonstrate this in whatever context they find themselves. To date, there are just 120 accredited World Class schools in the UK, all non-selective state schools.

  • John Port Spencer Academy gains Good at first Ofsted inspection

    John Port Spencer Academy’s pupils and staff are triumphant after receiving a turnaround ‘good’ Ofsted report during a full section 5 inspection, the first since joining Spencer Academies Trust in 2018.

    The academy, located in Etwall is part of the Spencer Academies Trust. They received a section 5 inspection which is designed to re-assess the academy’s status after the former John Port School was deemed inadequate and converted to academy status in 2018, under the new identity, John Port Spencer Academy.

  • Highfields Spencer Academy celebrates official opening

    Highfields Spencer Academy celebrated their official opening earlier this month with many dignitaries in attendance.

    Pupils from across the academy delivered a special musical performance, which was then followed by an inspiring speech by Artist John Waterhouse, who has been working closely with the academy.  Spencer Academies Trust CEO Paul West, and dignitaries Councillor Alex Dale and MP Heather Wheeler also addressed the room to acknowledge the special occasion.

    The academy, located in Heanor is part of the Spencer Academies Trust. They underwent a section 8 inspection which is designed to ensure the academy remains good, following their last full section 5 inspection in March 2017.

  • Spencer Superstars Charitable Foundation officially launched

    The Spencer Superstars Charitable Foundation was officially launched at our Inaugural Spring Ball on the 28th of May, raising a collective £41,617.

    Hosted by Gem 106 presenter Jo Russell, over 200 partners and staff members attended the launch ball at the Nottingham Belfry Hotel and Spa. The evening was opened by Nottingham-born Cellist Sheku Kanneh-Mason, followed by an introduction to the Foundation, live auctions, raffles and music from Re-Take That.
