Celebrating GCSE success across Spencer Academies Trust
It has been a morning of celebration across Spencer Academies Trust as our Year 11 students receive their GCSE results. After months of preparation and years of hard work, students can now look ahead to the next stage of their education, with many continuing into sixth form, college, apprenticeships and other exciting opportunities.
This year, 70% of students achieved grade 4 or above in English and mathematics, with 53% achieving grade 5 or above in both subjects. Across the Trust, 65% achieved five or more grades at 4 or above, while 49% achieved five or more grades at 5 or above.
The Trust’s Attainment 8 score was 48.46, while 39% of students were entered for the English Baccalaureate, reflecting the breadth of subjects studied across our academies.
There have also been some excellent individual performances across our academies, alongside many stories of progress from young people who have worked hard to overcome challenges and achieve results they can be proud of. Some of these individual achievements and stories are highlighted below.
For many, today marks the beginning of their next chapter. Whether they are continuing into sixth form, moving on to college, starting an apprenticeship, entering employment or following another pathway, our students are now ready to take their next steps towards their future goals.

These results reflect the hard work and determination of our students, alongside the commitment of teachers, pastoral teams and support staff across our academies, who have worked tirelessly to support them throughout their GCSE journey. We would also like to thank parents and carers for the encouragement and support they have given their children along the way.
We want to congratulate all of our students. GCSE results are just one part of a much longer journey, and we are incredibly proud of the effort they have put in and the ambitions they have for their futures.
Whatever comes next, we hope our students leave us feeling proud of what they have achieved and confident about the opportunities ahead of them.

Academy Spotlights
Alongside the Trust-wide results, there are some fantastic individual achievements and stories of progress from across our academies.
Heanor Gate Spencer Academy
This year, 43% of students achieved a Grade 5 or above in both English and Mathematics, exceeding the FFT contextual targets set for this cohort. In addition, 50% achieved a Grade 5 or higher in English and 53% secured a strong pass in Mathematics. These outcomes represent the culmination of years of hard work and reflect the dedication our students have shown both in and beyond the classroom.
While headline figures only ever tell part of the story, I am immensely proud of what this group of young people has achieved. Success is about much more than a single measure; it is about the progress students make, the challenges they overcome and the confidence they develop as learners and young adults. Today’s results reflect those qualities and the determination our students have demonstrated throughout their educational journey.

Rushcliffe Spencer Academy
Nearly three quarters of students achieved a strong pass (Grade 5 or above) in English and Maths with a breathtaking 30% of students achieving grades 9-7 in English and Maths, a best ever result for the Academy. In addition, the Academy is delighted to share that 42% of the total grades awarded were at a Grade 7 or above and a staggering 10% of all grades awarded were at a Grade 9. These results build on the excellent outcomes achieved in recent years and demonstrate the Academy’s focus on continued improvement and success.
While the Academy is rightly proud of the achievements of every student, particular congratulations are due to Cerys Fair, Oliver Steeples, Hana Ahmad, Neela Thiara, Ottilie Jones and Ektor Karelis, who all achieved 7 or more Grade 9s. Within this group, Ektor achieved the incredible milestone of achieving a clean sweep of 9 Grade 9s and a Distinction*, a truly astonishing result.

John Port Spencer Academy
John Port Spencer Academy is delighted to announce its best GCSE results ever, with students achieving outstanding success across a wide range of subjects.
This year's cohort achieved a pass rate of over 80%, with a third of students awarded Grades 7-9 in English and maths.
Students' hard work and determination have been rewarded, with the majority progressing to John Port Spencer Academy's thriving Sixth Form. This follows another successful year for the academy's post-16 students, with 80% of sixth form leavers securing places at university, including Russell Group institutions such as the University of Cambridge, Imperial College London, and the Universities of Warwick, Leeds, Nottingham, Birmingham and Bristol.

Derby Moor Spencer Academy
There is much to celebrate in this year’s results, including the number of students reaching key national benchmarks. 65% of students achieved grade 4 or above in both English and mathematics, with 41% achieving grade 5 or above in both subjects. One in every five grades awarded was the equivalent of a Grade 7 or above and four in every five vocational results were awarded at Level 2.
We are especially delighted that so many of this year group have chosen to continue their education with us. The majority will return in a fortnight as Derby Moor Sixth Form students, beginning a range of A-level and vocational courses. Others are moving on to a range of Post 16 destinations including colleges, apprenticeships and even the army! We wish them well as they take a different route. What every one of them shares is a set of qualifications they have earned outright and a perpetual place in the Derby Moor Community.

George Spencer Academy
This year our results continue to remain well above national averages, and we are proud to be celebrating 77% of the cohort achieving a grade 4 or above in both English and maths and a further 60% of students achieving a grade 5 or above in both English and maths combined. In addition to these nationally recognised headline measures, the students have achieved remarkable outcomes in a wide range of optional subjects, and it was wonderful to see so many happy faces as they opened their envelopes.
There are so many students who have achieved highly, with many individual success stories. As well as embarking on apprenticeships and moving on to other FE establishments, we are delighted that a vast number of our year 11 cohort have chosen to continue to be an integral part of our community and have enrolled into our sixth form.

Arnold Hill Spencer Academy
We are delighted that more students than last year have achieved a strong pass (Grade 5+) in both English and Mathematics. Alongside this, 97 grades achieved were the very highest Grade 9. Every grade achieved today has been hard-earned and reflects the dedication and commitment shown by our students throughout their GCSE studies.
From the wide range of student successes, some particular highlights include Charly Livvy, who achieved an outstanding nine grade 9s. Adam Goodall obtained three grade 9s, Hector Eland obtained excellent results across the curriculum and Grace Harrison also celebrated exceptional success.

Farnborough Spencer Academy
Students, families and staff at Farnborough Spencer Academy are celebrating today as Year 11 students received another strong set of GCSE results and took the next step towards their future ambitions.
Many of Farnborough’s students are heading to Rushcliffe Spencer Academy for sixth form study, including Mehnaz who achieved an exceptional 7 grade 9s. This is a tremendous achievement and reflects the hard work, ambition and commitment demonstrated throughout her studies. Other top performing students include Zarin, Dasithi, Larissa, Tsitsi, Emil, Keira, Mohammed and Kairan all of whom have a full set of top grades.
