Great GCSE gains across the Spencer Academies Trust

There were great GCSEs and vocational equivalents gained in all Spencer Academies Trust Academies this morning. Students were celebrating as every academy surpassed the outcomes they achieved in the last formal exam season of 2019.

Almost 1900 Year 11 Spencer students across the region collected their results today. Paul West, Chief Executive, said, “I’m delighted for all our Spencer students. I’m equally thrilled for our academy staff who have worked tirelessly with our young people to achieve these remarkable outcomes, despite the hurdles of the last few years.

Three-quarters of Spencer Trust Year 11 students gained a grade 4 or better in both English and Maths, with a further 55% of Trust students also securing a grade 5 or better in both. Fraser Mitchell, Trust Secondary Director said, “I’m so pleased that so many of our students will have their best chance of securing their post 16 choices after achieving these grades. They truly deserve it after rising to the challenge of examinations after a tough couple of years. Well done to every one of them.”

Farnborough Spencer Academy star student Angel achieved a bumper set of top grades, including 2 grade 9s and 4 grade 8s, and she is now heading to study Biology, Chemistry, and Maths at Rushcliffe Spencer Academy and intends to study medicine at university. Angel said “Farnborough did everything they could to support me on my journey, and gave me some really good advice. I am proud of how well I’ve done.”

Ben Taylor, who attends Arnold Hill Spencer Academy achieved 9’s across the board, he said, “I am very happy with my results.”

Students Jessica and Erin from John Port Spencer Academy were celebrating together as they head off to Acting School in Birmingham, “We are both happy with our results, and have achieved more than what we anticipated. We will be heading off to acting school together in Birmingham. We have had lots of support from John Port over the years, thank you.”

We wish all of our Spencer students the very best in securing their destination of choice over the days ahead – whether in one of our sixth forms or elsewhere for college and apprenticeship places.
