Spencer Academies Trust announce new appointments

Spencer Academies Trust is thrilled to announce the appointment of two new senior members of staff.
Susan Sharp has been appointed Executive Director of Post 16 and Rachel Schollaert-Semark has been appointed Head of Communications.
Susan says; “I have spent most of my life working with Post 16 students, including the last 10 years as the Director of Post 16 for The Redhill Academy Trust. This involved improving Sixth Form education at 7 Academies across the East Midlands. I am happiest when working with students directly and seeing the impact that we can make. For fun I love culture and being creative, be it writing poetry, playing the guitar, or going to The Broadway cinema. I am also a lifelong Kate Bush fan. I recently got my first puppy, and she is indeed a happy challenge! “
Susan is looking forward to her new role within the trust.
“It is truly a privilege to work with this age group, and their enthusiasm and joy for life is very inspiring. Joining SAT will enable me to work with a large team of Sixth Form leaders to empower even more students to aim for the brightest future possible. I am really thrilled to join such a dynamic and forward-thinking Trust.”
SAT CEO, Paul West, “The appointment of Susan to the Trust in this newly created role, reflects the importance that we place on ensuring our Post 16 students across all of our academies receive an exceptional education and a positive sixth-form experience that fully prepares them for their next steps in life”.
Prior to joining the Trust, Rachel spent time working in Dublin, studying in Iceland and three years working with “at-risk” children in Florida.
Rachel describes herself as; “Writer, traveller, and serial dog petter: that’s me. I grew up in the geographic centre of the United States (‘the crack of the atlas,’ as my mum puts it) and came to England via my husband, whom I met whilst we were studying abroad in Iceland. After living in Dublin for a year on a working holiday visa, I spent three years in Florida working at a non-profit after school and summer camp program for at-risk youth. In addition to empowering students, my passions include cheese, laughter, and Mumford & Sons.”
Rachel is looking forward to her new role within the trust.
“I loved working with students to help them explore and reach their potential, and I’m so excited to have the opportunity to work with SAT to do the same on an even greater scale”.
SAT CEO, Paul West, “We are delighted to welcome Rachel to the Trust, and look forward to developing our communications strategy so that we can continue to connect closely with all of our stakeholders”.
Welcome both to the Spencer Academies Trust!
