Hilton Spencer Academy awarded “Good” by Ofsted
After its inspection in January, Hilton Spencer Academy has maintained its good rating from Ofsted.
In its first Ofsted inspection since 2018, Hilton Spencer Academy maintained a rating of Good. The report indicates that children and staff are proud to be part of their school community.
The report opens, ‘Hilton Spencer Academy is a joyful and welcoming place. Pupils aim to follow the school’s motto of “one school – one rule: Respect yourself, others and our school”. A common view expressed by pupils is that “people are kind and respectful at this school.”’ It continues to describe pupils as ‘extremely polite’, ‘proud of their school’, and that they ‘respect difference’.
These observations highlight the effectiveness of the academy staff. Inspectors were pleased with the implementation of curriculum and classroom environments, stating, ‘The environment is well planned and welcoming. Children settle well and develop their understanding of routines and expectations. Staff form strong relationships with the children and care for them well. Teachers provide children with interesting activities.’

“I am delighted that the hard work and effort of all staff to develop and enhance our curriculum has been recognised by the inspectors and that they were able to see this being taught effectively across the school. I was also pleased to read the many positive comments about our wonderful children who, on a daily basis, demonstrate very good behaviour and positive attitudes to learning – they certainly impressed the inspection team and helped them to rightly conclude that Hilton is a ‘joyful and welcoming’ place to be!”
