Spencer Academies Trust students celebrate outstanding A Level results
Today marks an exciting milestone for our Year 13 students as they receive the results they have worked towards throughout their Sixth Form journey. Across Spencer Academies Trust, there is plenty to celebrate, with students achieving some excellent grades and securing a wide range of opportunities for their next steps.
The strength of this year’s results is reflected in a number of key achievements, including 99% of students achieving A*-E grades, 53% achieving A*-B and 26% achieving A*-A. The overall average grade was B-, with students across the Trust achieving some excellent individual results.
The proportion of students achieving AAB or higher, including in at least two facilitating subjects, stands at 21.9%.
There have also been some particularly strong performances from individual academies. George Spencer Academy was a standout performer, with more than 35% of students achieving A*-A, while Rushcliffe Spencer Academy also achieved an impressive 30%+ A*-A rate.
Many students have secured places at their first-choice universities, while others are progressing to higher and degree apprenticeships, employment and the next stage of their education and careers. This year, there have been 12 Oxbridge offers, alongside students gaining places on competitive courses including Medicine, Architecture, Engineering, Veterinary Medicine and Dentistry.
Others are beginning degree apprenticeships with leading employers, highlighting the breadth of opportunities available to our students.
Interim Chief Executive, Kate Green commented: “Today is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our students and everything they have achieved. We are incredibly proud of the hard work and ambition they have shown in working towards their goals, and it is fantastic to see that commitment rewarded with such a strong set of results.
“Of course, results are only one part of the journey. What means just as much to us is seeing our young people leave our academies as confident, well-rounded individuals, equipped with the skills, knowledge and experiences they need to take their next steps in life, education and employment.
“I would like to congratulate every student receiving their results today and wish them every success for the future. I would also like to thank our Sixth Form teams, teachers and support staff, as well as parents and carers, for the encouragement and support they have given our students along the way.”

Whatever path they have chosen, our students should be incredibly proud of what they have achieved today. Whether they are heading to university, starting an apprenticeship, moving into employment or taking a different route, we are proud of their ambitions and wish them every success in the future.

Academy Spotlights
Heanor Gate Spencer Academy
At A Level, students achieved a remarkable 100% pass rate, with an average grade of C+. These results demonstrate the breadth and depth of achievement across the cohort. Almost half of all grades awarded (45%) were at A*-B, while 75% were achieved at A*-C.
We are equally delighted with the success of our students studying Applied General and Vocational qualifications, who make up around half of our Year 13 cohort. Despite the increased rigour of these courses in recent years, our students have continued to achieve exceptional outcomes.
An outstanding 90% of grades were awarded within the Distinction*-Merit range, with students achieving an overall average grade of Distinction. Furthermore, 75% of grades were secured in the highest possible bracket of Distinction*-Distinction.

George Spencer Academy
A huge congratulations to all our incredible Year 13 students at George Spencer 6th Form on their achievements in this year’s A level and Level 3 Vocational courses.
We are extremely proud of our students and the results they achieved which are some of the highest seen at George Spencer. We have continued to increase the percentages at key headlines, with over 35% of grades being A*-A and nearly 70% of grades being A*-B. We are thrilled that our exceptional 6th Form has had such a positive impact on our young people’s futures.

Rushcliffe Spencer Academy
Rushcliffe Spencer Academy is celebrating another outstanding year of A Level results, with over 30% of grades awarded at A* or A and 34 students achieving straight A*/A grades across all subjects studied. As a result, students are now progressing to leading universities, competitive degree apprenticeships and other ambitious destinations.
Among the many individual successes today are Anish Anand, who will be reading Politics, Philosophy and Economics at the University of Oxford, after achieving A*AA. We also celebrate the exceptional achievements of twins Edward and James Banfield who achieved A*A*A and AAB respectively and will continue their studies at The University of Oxford and Durham University. Other notable results include Siena Russell A*AA who plans to study Medicine at the University of Nottingham and Loic Sutton AAA who has secured a prestigious Degree Apprenticeship in Engineering with AECOM.

John Port Spencer Academy
John Port Spencer Academy is celebrating another year of outstanding Post-16 success, with students achieving excellent results and progressing to an impressive range of university, degree apprenticeship and career destinations. This year's cohort achieved a combined A Level and vocational pass rate of over 98%, with 78 grades awarded at A*/ A.
Students' hard work and determination have been rewarded with exceptional destinations. 80% of our students are heading to study at university, with students having gained places at Russell Group universities, including the University of Cambridge, Imperial College London, and the Universities of Warwick, Leeds, Nottingham, Birmingham and Bristol.
Among the many success stories is Sol Poxon, who achieved 3 A* grades and an A grade, securing his place to study Economics at the University of Cambridge.
“I am thrilled and relieved to get my A level results this morning and find out I am off to Cambridge, I am very much looking forward to the tutorial system at Cambridge as it is a unique way to learn. I want to thank the school and the Trust for their support especially with the opportunity to have a mock interview with an Economics expert I didn’t know- this helped me prepare for the real interview”
Hettie Gormley, who joined the Sixth Form from Derby High School, also achieved 3 A* grades and an A grade and will progress to the University of Bristol to study Veterinary Medicine.
“I am really grateful to all the support I received from the Sixth Form with preparing my personal statement and the teachers who helped me to keep calm and focus. The support from the Trust was really useful for example the mock interview day where I met other Trust students Medical staff this is something that I wouldn’t have got at another school.”

Derby Moor Spencer Academy
There has been strong achievement across both academic and vocational pathways. One in five A-level grades was awarded at A* or A, while more than seven in ten entries secured grades of A*-C. Vocational outcomes were equally strong, with students achieving an average grade within the Distinction band. These results reflect the ambition, resilience and hard work of Derby Moor students, together with the expertise, care and unwavering commitment of our staff.
Beyond the headline grades, we pay close attention to the progress students make across their two years with us; the measure known as value-added. It tells us something the percentages alone cannot: how far each student has travelled from the point they finished Year 11. Early indications this year are positive across both the academic and vocational suites.
Five Derby Moor students are excited to study Medicine in September. Aliza Tanveer is heading to the University of Nottingham having achieved A* A* A in Biology, Maths and Chemistry. Jennifer Kamesh is also going to the University of Nottingham having gained A* A* A B in Biology, the EPQ, Chemistry and English Literature. Ameera Shaheen will be studying at the University of Leicester. Lima Shaji is jetting off to Malaysia with A A A A* in Biology, Maths, Chemistry and her EPQ. Lima was overjoyed at the progress she had made since joining us for GCSEs and she added, “I’m so excited for the future and proud of my achievements, I can’t wait to study in Malaysia. Thank you to my teachers!”

Arnold Hill Spencer Academy
This year’s results are a testament to the hard work demonstrated by both students and staff. Over a quarter of all grades awarded were A* to A, while 49% of students achieved grades A* to B. Throughout their time at Arnold Hill, this cohort has consistently displayed the commitment and character needed to succeed.
A particular well done to Aryad Mohamad and George Clarkson for securing their places at Oxford University to read History and French and Maths respectively.
