Chetwynd Spencer Academy takes centre-stage at Young Voices 30th Anniversary

Fifty pupils from Chetwynd Spencer Academy were proud to represent Spencer Academies Trust at the opening night of Young Voices in Birmingham last month - one of the world’s largest school choir events.

Young Voices is an annual programme that brings together primary school children from across the UK to perform as part of one large choir in some of the country’s largest arenas. Working alongside professional musicians, composers and conductors, pupils rehearse throughout the year before taking part in a spectacular live concert experience. Young Voices aims to inspire a lifelong love of music, build confidence and show young people the power of singing together on a truly unforgettable scale.

This year’s concert was extra special, marking Young Voices’ 30-year anniversary, and the celebrations went national. The BBC featured the event across BBC Breakfast, Radio 4’s Today Programme and Newsround, shining a spotlight on the power of music to bring young people together.

Back in September, Young Voices invited Chetwynd Spencer Academy to be the feature school for the BBC coverage - and they were delighted to say yes! Pupils from Chetwynd Spencer rose to the occasion, performing alongside thousands of children from across the country in an unforgettable arena experience.

An incredible moment for all involved!
