Three Secondary Spencer Academies awarded World Class Schools Quality Mark

Derby Moor Spencer Academy, Heanor Gate Spencer Academy and John Port Spencer Academy join five other Spencer academies in holding the prestigious commendation from World Class Schools.

After rigorous accreditation processes by World Class Schools, Derby Moor Spencer Academy, Heanor Gate Spencer Academy and John Port Spencer Academy have been awarded the World Class Schools Quality Mark (WCSQM) in recognition of their excellence in education.

The awarding body emphasises student achievement in their accreditation process, operating on the idea that a World-Class school will have students that excel in any given environment. World Class Ambassador students from each academy successfully demonstrated their ability across a wide range of competencies, earning their respective schools their WCSQM.

Derby Moor Spencer Academy Principal Scott Doyle said, “We are delighted to have achieved the World Class Status for Derby Moor this year. Student leadership is a strength of our academy and we are proud that their talents and leadership qualities have received recognition from World Class Schools. The accreditation process was thorough and challenging as it should be—it is designed to test the competencies and characteristics that young people need to flourish in an emerging global economy. Well done to all of our students who contributed to the accreditation process. We look forward to seeing them grow further and collaborating across our World Class Community of schools next year.”

Heanor Gate Spencer Academy Principal Matt Jones said, “I am so proud of our students on a daily basis and want to pay a special thanks to those who engaged with the accreditation process on behalf of the whole student community. The sense of pride and gratitude our students show in our school, their learning and the opportunities available to them is so heart-warming as a principal. It goes without saying that to create an environment where students thrive, you must have amazing staff and a supportive wider community and I hope that this accreditation provides some recognition for the amazing efforts of everyone involved in our unique ‘Team Heanor’ community.”
