Spencer Academies Trust leaders came together on Friday 18 September for the annual Trust Leadership Day, with this year’s event focusing on what it means to continue learning, developing and becoming the best we can be. 

Held at the Jubilee Conference Centre in Nottingham, the day marked the next chapter in the Trust’s ongoing ‘Belong, Build, Become’ journey. Building on the themes explored in previous years, colleagues were encouraged to look ahead and consider how they can continue to grow as leaders, learners and team members, both individually and collectively. 

Derby Moor Spencer Academy is delighted to announce that it has been awarded Inclusion Quality Mark (IQM) Flagship School Status, recognising its deeply embedded culture of inclusion, belonging and aspiration.

The prestigious award follows a detailed review of the academy’s inclusive practice and marks the next stage of Derby Moor’s IQM journey, following its previous recognition as a Centre of Excellence. The reviewer found compelling evidence of a school where support is personalised, ambitious and focused on improving life chances, describing Derby Moor as a “beacon of inclusive practice.”

Spencer Academies Trust is delighted to welcome Sam Sykes, Chris James and Richard Goodman as new members of our Board of Directors, joining the Trust from 1 September 2026.

The three new Directors bring a wealth of experience from across education, finance, strategic leadership, stakeholder engagement and the charity sector, further strengthening the expertise and perspective of our Board.

It has been a morning of celebration across Spencer Academies Trust as our Year 11 students receive their GCSE results. After months of preparation and years of hard work, students can now look ahead to the next stage of their education, with many continuing into sixth form, college, apprenticeships and other exciting opportunities.

This year, 70% of students achieved grade 4 or above in English and mathematics, with 53% achieving grade 5 or above in both subjects. Across the Trust, 65% achieved five or more grades at 4 or above, while 49% achieved five or more grades at 5 or above.

Three Spencer Academies Trust colleagues have been recognised for their outstanding contribution to careers education after receiving nominations at the East Midlands Combined County Authority (EMCCA) Careers Hub's inaugural regional celebration, “From Skills to Careers”.

Hosted in partnership with The Careers & Enterprise Company at the historic St Mary's Church in Nottingham, the event brought together schools, colleges, employers and partners from across the East Midlands to celebrate their shared commitment to improving opportunities for young people through high-quality careers education.

Staff, pupils and families at Fairfield Spencer Academy are celebrating following a successful Ofsted inspection which recognised the academy’s nurturing culture, strong leadership and commitment to helping every child succeed.

Inspectors recognised strengths across every area of the academy’s provision, highlighting pupils’ achievement, behaviour, personal development, leadership and the quality of education.
