Successful SAT Leadership Strategy Day
Leaders from across the Spencer Academies Trust joined together for the annual ‘Trust Leadership Strategy Day’ last Friday. Over 80 members including Academy Principals, Trust Senior Leaders, Trustees and Central Support professionals were in attendance.
CEO Paul West began by introducing the ‘One Spencer’ strategy that will focus on ten goals over the next three years to help support our Trust and Academies to execute, our ambition to be both exceptional and outstanding. Whilst also living each day the Trust values of Aspiration, Partnership, and Responsibility.
The Trust welcomed Key Note speaker, CEO of the Chartered College of Teaching Dame Alison Peacock, who delivered an inspirational presentation on ‘Building a Professional Learning Community.’
Dame Alison Peacock was delighted to be in attendance; ‘I was really inspired to see the beginning of this Trust session, and learn about the vision for Spencer Academies Trust. It was great to learn about the way that you are working and the collaboration and collegiality that’s going on.
It was a brilliant introduction ahead of my presentation about how we do that at scale because the Chartered College of Teaching is all about learning from each other, getting examples of great practice, building on academic knowledge, and bringing academics into the school agenda.’
It was also acknowledged that the trust will be partnering with the Chartered College of Teaching for mass membership offering our staff members will have access to further development and training.
Dr Esther Mukuka Head of Equality Diversity and Inclusion for the National Institute for Health and Care conducted the second guest session of the day, which focused on informing participants about EDI and strategies to implement to make our Trust further its inclusivity offer. Her knowledge and expertise provided our members with a vast array of information to begin implementing across our Trust and Academies.

The final session saw a ‘Spotlight’ session on a selection of Teaching Assistants from across our Academies, who explained their roles and responsibilities, the challenges they faced, and their journeys within the sector.
