Spencer Academies Trust celebrate Sixth Form ASTRAL success with Afternoon Tea

This week, a select group of Sixth Form students were celebrated for their exceptional engagement with the ASTRAL programme, an initiative designed to inspire personal growth, leadership, and academic enrichment.

Twelve students who have shown remarkable dedication across the ASTRAL framework were invited to a special afternoon tea with Paul West, CEO, and Susan Sharp, Executive Director of Post 16. The event, held at Spencer Place, recognised students who have embodied the spirit of ASTRAL through consistent commitment, leadership, and contribution to their school and wider communities.

This afternoon, a select group of Sixth Form students were celebrated for their exceptional engagement with the ASTRAL programme, an initiative designed to inspire personal growth, leadership, and academic enrichment.

Each student was presented with a certificate of achievement, symbolising their progress in one or more of ASTRAL’s 14 dynamic categories - ranging from community engagement and super-curricular involvement to work experience and acts of kindness.

ASTRAL is a two-year transformational development programme offered to Sixth Form students across the Trust. It features 14 sections, each crafted to encourage academic, social, and personal growth, with achievements tracked across three levels: Bronze, Silver, and Gold.

With tutor support, regular progress reviews, and a system of recognition in assemblies and online platforms, ASTRAL empowers students to set and achieve manageable goals that help them stand out in a competitive world.

Susan Sharp praised the cohort, saying, “The students we met today were truly inspiring. The contributions they make to their academies and communities helps set them up as citizens for the future. We will be developing the Astral programme even further next year and look forward to developing an alumni network in the future”.
