Four Primary Spencer Academies awarded World Class Schools Quality Mark

Chetwynd Spencer Academy, Fairfield Spencer Academy, Sunnyside Spencer Academy  and Portland Spencer Academy all received the commendation from World Class Schools designating them as exceptional schools.

Chetwynd Spencer Academy, Fairfield Spencer Academy, Sunnyside Spencer Academy and Portland Spencer Academy all successfully completed the rigorous accreditation process to earn their World Class Schools Quality Marks.

The awarding body emphasises student achievement in their accreditation process, operating on the idea that a World-Class school will have students that excel in any given environment. World Class Ambassador students from each academy successfully demonstrated their ability across a wide range of competencies, earning their respective schools their WCSQM.

Director of Primary Education Angela O’Brien, OBE said, “We are thrilled to see the dedication of our school teams recognised by World Class Schools. Our pupils are at the centre of everything we do, and we are so proud of them for demonstrating the very best in themselves and their schools to assessors.”

Chetwynd Spencer Academy School Council Lead Alice Digges said, “We are so incredibly proud to have been awarded the World Class Schools Quality Mark. The values that the award recognises are the very same that are intrinsic to Chetwynd and permeate throughout our curriculum, both in and out of the classroom. Our vision statement identifies that we want our children to be ‘kind, courageous and curious citizens, helping them to shine for a bright and happy future in our diverse world.’ The award allowed our children to reflect and celebrate their differences, their uniqueness and be proud of who they are. We are also fully confident that this pride will follow them, wherever the next part of their journey is, within school and beyond.”

Fairfield Spencer Academy Acting Principal Sally Ann Mitchell said, “World Class Schools has been an invaluable experience for our school community. It has been wonderful to see the wide variety of activities that the children participate in both in and out of school. We have seen a marked improvement in the children’s confidence and aspirations to go beyond the classroom.”

Sunnyside Spencer Academy Vice Principal Verity Lee said, “We are proud to provide an education that goes above and beyond traditional academic subjects, offering diverse and enriching opportunities. Our curriculum prepares students not only for success within the classroom but also equips them with the skills and knowledge to thrive beyond their time with us. We warmly welcome and embrace the recognition for our exceptional curriculum offer.”

Portland Spencer Academy Principal Joe Handy said, “As always, I am immensely proud of the highly effective education we provide the Bilborough community. To have the hard work of each and every colleague and child recognised in this way is wonderful and very well-deserved.”
